WOW! What a wonderful time we had here at Tall Oaks Lodge and Wintergreen. The weather was Cold!! But the skiing & tubing were great. The house was great, also. So much room and the fires were so relaxing. We will certainly try our best to do this again. Our vacation was everything we anticipated and then some.

We enjoyed staying in your lovely home for our annual girlfriends' getaway! We loved the architecture, views, and built-in touches that make a house a home (game room, books, music selecions, and shared kitchen products, etc.). Your camel in the living room became our mascot. We'd walk a country mile for him and would adopt him! Thanks very much!!

We had a wonderful week. Our adult children, their spouses and our 2 little granddaughters (3˝ and 17 months) were very comfortable here. We enjoyed the lake every day but one (when it was too cool and rainy we went to the indoor pool at the top of the mountain), we played games and enjoyed sitting outside in the evening. Our son and son-in-law grill masters both, cooked outside ever night. What a great place. Thanks for sharing it with us!

We really enjoyed your home. Our adult children came with their wives from South Carolina and our daughter from Raleigh, N.C. The guys enjoyed golfing and the ladies spent a day at the Wintergreen Spa. At night we had a great time playing games and laughing. The kids headed back on Sunday. We spent some time with a realtor on Monday, looking at lots -- thinking of "retiring" here in 5 years or so -- who knows?? the houwe was great -- we love all the creatively designed rooms. Thanks for sharing.

We (a group of cyclists from Montreal, Canada) have been coming to Virginia to cycle on the Parkway for the last 4 years. By far, your accommodations have been the best yet. Coffee on the deck in the mornings, a few hours of good hard cycling, and then back here to rest for the rest of the day. We enjoyed the house & grounds so much, we never ate (or drank) out once. You will hear from us next Year! Thank you.

The small portion of our family who stayed here this wonderful weekend thinks our entire "clan" should spend a month here. There are so many nooks and crannies, and decks, and table and chair sets, that we could possibly not even see each other all month! Everything is so interesting...I can't help but wonder where everything originated. Each time I go into or through a room, I find a new "treasure." You have a wonderful place...from the dollhouse to the precious cozy spot near the kitchen bar, to the "sand art" box...it's all inviting and warm. We're hoping to "save up" and come back.

We loved our stay here -- the house is quiet and in apparent isolation. It is a lovely location. We could hardly believe the amenities made available to us. We enjoyed the music and books. This is a comfortable, beautiful house, with accessibility to many of the special features and sites in the mountains of Virginia. There were eight of us, and we had plenty of space for privacy and lots of space for enjoying one another's company. Thank you for sharing it with us.

This was our third stay at Tall Oaks Lodge, and each visit gets better. We had three great days of skiing. Our youngest (2 yrs old) cooperated and stayed in the Tree House program at Wintergreen while the rest of us got some great time on the slopes. We enjoyed two dinners at the new brew pub, Devil's Backbone. On our "off" day we hiked to Paul's Creek waterslide -- saw some wild turkeys, deer, and a raccoon. It was a great visit.

Thanks for sharing your fabulous home with us. We had all our children and grandchildren meet us here for a family reunion and your huge home suited our reunion perfectly. Our granddaughters loved the DVDs, videos, and games that you have collected and the family made 2 1000 pc puzzles together. Great relaxation and retreat in your secluded treehouse!

Lovely setting, lovely large and comfortable home away from home, which our family of eight thoroughly enjoyed. Even the rain a couple of days wasn't enough to spoil our stay. The reason for our visit to Virginia was our grandson's graduation from Liberty University. Having these few days at Wintergreen was the icing on the cake. Our thanks to you!

You have a very beautiful home. None of us wanted to leave. We felt so comfortable and at home. The architectual design is extremely unique. My family could all be together, yet have our own separate space. I loved the natural feel of your home with all the wood, stone and windows. Every room was tastefully decorated, fabulous book and music collection, and lovely landscaping. We had a great time. Thank you for sharing your home with us.

Another great visit to your beautiful home. This year we spent two great days skiing and the kids (6, 5, & 4) loved the camp/ski school at Wintergreen. We played lots of foosball and W. learned to play chess. The kids loved the huge selection of movies. We made it to Pauls Creek Waterslide this year -- working out a tricky stream crossing with 4 small children. We even snuck in an educational trip to Monticello. Thanks again.

New Years '07 - '08 "2nd Annual" Another Great New Years Celebration...Let's see, we had a few repeats from last year: Catch Phrase, wineries, thumper! Some new additions included puzzles, around the world room parties, wine tastings, 15-month old C. had a new friend, 4-week old G. The two babies did well considering all of the loud, baudy adults. Dick Clark made it once again! The new parents didn't quite make it to Dance Party USA! The newly described "Wii" room was a hit! 30-somethings breaking a sweat playing video games, especially tennis. Mad props to the Redskins! C's award winning chili! (Seriously...It won an award!) Woke up every morning to the bright, bright, bright sun. Did I mention Bright? Thanks again!

We had an absoluely wonderful time in your beautiful home -- we loved the snow tubing and seeing the deer in your yard. The men spent a lot of time playing foosball. All we can say is "WOW!" This was our 1st visit to your new house and we were not disappointed. For the third time in five years we took a break from husbands, kids & life in general. Your house is truly a home away from home...we ate great meals, drank great drinks, and enjoyed each other's company. The spa was absolutely wonderful and it even snowed for the first time this year. The resort had about two inches, making it beautiful against the backdrop of colorful leaves! We look forward to many more visits to your home -- you have contributed to our great memories by allowing us to stay in your home!

Our family had a fabulous peaceful time. Sometimes getting lost in the many rooms, but never ran out of things to do in it. Everybody voted Foosball and poker table rocks for great entertainment time. Kitchen was well equipped and clean. Awesome fireplaces and soothing hammock on the deck. Music system is a great addition, not to mention the many TVs, DVDs, VCRs and movie collections. Thank you for sharing this house with us.

Our family found your big, beautiful home perfect for our post-wedding-in-DC gathering! The granddaughters built chipmunk "traps" and swung in the gazebo; the men had great golf and foosball tournaments as well as grilling competitions; the women enjoyed the scenery and hikes (too bad Crabtree Falls was down to a trickle); my husband and I found a real gem in Basic Necessities - both the Wednesday afternoon wine tasting and dinner! Everyone we met in this area was so warm and welcoming - as is this house! Hoping to return.

The W and M families enjoyed themselves thoroughly in your beautiful house. First of all, the house itself is a character in the play. It's immensely a appealing, aesthetically right down to the unity of doorknobs and window knobs. So many lovely things - quilts, prints, photographs, art. And most of all to me - books and chairs with lamps to make reading possible! Thank you. You have 7 televisions, I believe. I turned one on once to show the toddler a bit of Chicken Little. I didn't believe you when you wrote we maybe wouldn't need to bring anything for entertainment. My bad. You were right. We hiked, been to Lake Monocan, golfed (a lot), had massages and manicures (the girls in the group), done a ton of wineries, gone back to DC for a wedding, and chilled. We love Ambrosia's for lunch (Get the Aphrodite on pita, not a wrap.) Thai-Mex II is such a weird concept, but they've gone more than a year, and that means success in the restaurant world. We stuck with the Thai part and the crisp duck is most excellent - not greasy or too heavy. Fog on the mountain. Big thunderstorm. Beautiful days and nights. We loved our stay and your house and would love to come back. One part of our family is returning from Europe next year but another part will be going over there. Don't know when we can come back but we will return. Thanks for a lovely house.

My daughters and I quilt. We oooh'd and aaahh'd over all the pretty quilts. They are lovely and add the perfect touch. Our Son said it was going to be nice - WOW! It was truly the perfect venue for a family vacation combined with an open house for our son's graduation. We had many come thru -- some professors and deans who were very impressed with your home and its availability. Thank you for helping to make this week so very special. We are already discussing ext year's trip for when he gets his Masters.

A great way to ring in the New Year! Thoroughly enjoyed hiking Paul's Creek Waterslide, early morning walks, deer spotting, surf & turf dinner, Tex-Mex feast, rounds of "Pop" Cranium, golf, and Thumper. We ended the festivities with a gook ol' DPU (Dance Party USA). It was baby C's first New Year's celebratoin and looks like Dick Clark's last. The accommodations could not have been nicer — we'll be back! Thank you!

Our families truly enjoyed escaping the shopping "madness" of Thanksgiving Weekend and retreating to this beautiful place. The unique design of your special home provided a cozy corner for each of us as well as amazing views from just about everywhere. Yesterday with clear blue skies and termperatures around 60, we saw a flock of what appeared to be eagles swooping over the trees in your backyard. We applaud the generously outfitted kitchen and the generous supply of books, games, and movies. We will be back!

We had a lovely time — the house is beautiful — large, yet still cozy. We really enjoyed the fireplaces — used them whenever we were home. The Spa facilities are very nice. We want to come back in the summer when we can use the outdoor decks and grill. Thanks! Our book club enjoyed it so much that we never discussed the book!

What a "T-R-E-A-T"!! Happy Halloween at Tall Oaks Lodge from our family! We have had a wonderful stay — even enjoyed the "short" power outage whereby your explicit directions helped us investigate and safely resolve the problem. Such large square footage requires full knowledge of the workings of such a Fabulous home!! As you know well, as the maintenance of this home is tops. (Your guests appreciate those kind and important details.) Thanks for providing our three toddlers with portable cribs, a high chair and all the extras, including the satety rails under the deck bench. You two have graciously thought of everything. Our special thanks for allowing us the vacation and memories of a lifetime.

Where to begin? J. and A. took over the foosball table, N. claimed the dollhouse as her own, and I worked the Winky puzzle. Not bad for a rainy day. There must be some tasty deer-grub on the up-hill side of the driveway. When we got back last night, the deer down hill bounded off, but the four up here eye-balled us and sensing no threat, kept munching. The kids thought it was great! The house is absolutely wonderful. The kids want us to move it back to Arlington! Thank you for Sharing it with us!

Thank you for sharing your home with us. We really enjoyed our first trip to Wintergreen -- fireworks display on the mountain, Stoney Creek pool, and Lake Monocan. We had a wonderful week. Our 6-year-old daughter lost her first tooth here and learned to swim at the outdoor pool high atop the mountain! Our 4-year-old son saw a small deer in the back yard.

We were all so comfortable and relaxed that time seemed to go more slowly, we squeezed so much fun into that week — we will never forget it! On the last morning our daughter wanted us to take her picture in her room downstairs. When it was time to go she cried and cried, then she got my mom crying, too! It was such a special time no one wanted to leave. Our daughter cried several times on the way home, I think she grew up a bit. She's begging to return next summer! My husband wants me to open a restaurant in Wintergreen (or just continue to cook!). We didn't like the BBQ (too smoky) but loved Ambrosia. There's a great little Italian place in Waynesboro called Scotto's (or something like that!).

Anyway, we're back to work now but the kids are reminding us daily of how much fun we had. (We've watched the vacation video several times already!) Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us.

Thank you so much for letting us rent the house. It's awesome. We loved it. Fun, relaxing, historical, hiking, good food & drink, star gazing on the deck, birthday cake, lake swimming, football, & Frisbee throwing, good friends, great families, puzzle making, foosball playing, Jenga building, and Easter dinner are but a few words to describe our days in this beautiful home…oh – and horse neighing, turkey gobbling, a gazillion birds a chirping, crickets, and gentle breezes are but a few of the sounds we heard! Kids were rooting for rain so we could stay in the house all day!

We were all very impressed with your beautiful house, so lovely decorated and unique architecture. It was one of our best vacations ever; we celebrated Mom's 50th birthday!
